Redding Real Estate ~ Is Customer Service Still Alive and Well–As I live my life in this rather hectic environment we have all created with Twitter, Facebook, Blogging and the world of technology in general, I have seen a lot of improvement in how people do things. I can see the effects of Social Networking and how it has helped individuals and their business. I would predict that we will now see it more and more move into the Business arena. It has begun and it will be interesting to see how it affects the way companies do business.
I for one don’t find many businesses that embrace Customer Service and putting their Customers first. I can think of a few that come to mind and that would be GoDaddy, Lowe’s and Lexus.
I recently had an experience with Google that was the “Anti-Customer Service” experience when it comes to Customer Satisfaction. You cannot talk with a person at Google. They have this incredible automated system that by far is not perfect or helpful. There is no way to contact a live person at Google. In my efforts to simply renew a Domain Name, I had to call “GoDaddy” for support. They confessed that they have a number they can call Google with, however they are by contract not allowed to release the number and they could not help me…again by contract. I lost the Domain Name and there was little I could do. I felt as if Google yelled at me….WE HATE YOU AND WE DON’T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU. Now that is Anti-Customer Service.
How about AT&T…..oh I love them. I needed to separate my bill so that I could allocate one part to business and one part to personal. I was told it would cost me $20.00 more a month to do that. Again….it’s like WE HATE YOU AND WE WANT TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO BE MEAN TO YOU! What ever happened to Anti-Trust Law AT&T? I’ve ordered a digital phone system that runs off my internet and I’m killing my relationship with AT&T! Woohoo….that makes me feel good!
I’m not sure here….who is leading the way as far as the best Customer Service, Google or AT&T?
Well and Bank of America…..oh my….we’d better not go there. Four letter words are not a good idea when blogging and I personally have a policy against mean four letter words…..so we will leave this one alone.
I would hope that as Social Networking has helped individuals embrace a transparency about who they are and how they do business that the same trend will move into the business world. Oh….I know we rather can’t see AT&T on Twitter, however as the blogging world continues to blog about how the Consumer gets screwed over and over….one would think they would have to address their business practice.
Bank of America is an example where the word getting out about the fact that they were not doing loan modifications or approving short sales, forced them into change. Now that is powerful!
Redding Real Estate ~ Is Customer Service Still Alive and Well–I remain hopeful for the future that as we in the world of Social Networking and the Blogosphere continue to address the nature of own personal lives and experiences, we will continue to have an impact on business and how the Consumer is better served. I believe that the term came about to represent honoring the Customer and making sure their experience was satisfactory. Those companies that excel at Customer Service and get ratings of Excellence will lead the way for the future. I can only hope those that don’t are DOOMED!
Here is the Forbes link to the latest Survey on Customer Satisfaction Ratings for Large Business. Enjoy and remember who’s doing what to whom!

Redding Real Estate ~ Changing Industry ~ Is Your Agent Prepared–I write about change. I see many posts about the changes taking place and the observant person can see that some traditional methods in Real Estate are not as effective as they once were. Is it a sign of the times or a permanent transition? I don’t know if we can give the definitive answer to the question.
Traditional Marketing–We can state that Open Houses are no longer as effective and that the traditional types of marketing such as Direct Mail Campaigns and advertising in your local paper are no longer as effective. I am sure that the cost of both activites is also a factor. When I go down the list of activities we use to do for a listing, I have removed some items.
Again, I wonder if it is the current state of the Real Estate Industry that necessitates this or a permanent change. In many cases, we simply can no longer afford to do some of these activities and we must think of and isolate those things that work effectively to help us find buyers and sell homes for our sellers.
Internet Marketing–We hear about Internet Marketing, Social Networking and Celebrity Real Estate and our world changes. We now blog about who we are and how we do business. We share with the Consumer our morals and values. We provide a history of knowledge and information to help the Consumer learn about Real Estate. We provide market reports and local information about the diversity and beauty of our markets.
The activity of blogging and effectively marketing our listings on large real estate sites to reach more Consumers and get information out to a larger market has changed how we do business. We’ve learned more from reading and learning from the “experts” in real estate. We learn and we change.
We change our business to reflect the trending real estate market and the needs of our clients. We provide them tools that help them search and identify their interests. We market our listings pervasively on the web and we sell our listings. We have become astute to the market dynamics and we price our listings correctly or we don’t take the listing.
Is Real Estate about relationship? Yes and it always will be. Are the old traditional values of Real Estate still relevant. Yes and they always will be. Can a traditional Real Estate Agent continue to be successful? In my humble opinion, the answer is Yes. People who have trusted someone for 20 years in Real Estate will continue to do business with their trusted partner. The good and relevant aspects of traditional Real Estate will remain a valuable aspect of our Industry.
The opportunity, however is when we combine the two and move into the future. There are still very few Realtors that blog or have entered the world of Social Networking to increase their exposure and knowledge-base. The numbers are staggering when we see how many Consumers look for their homes on-line (87% of Buyers). The number that actually find their home and buy it, is also an interesting number (32% of Buyers found their homes on-line).
Change is an interesting phenomena. Is it behavioral or a character trait? Again, in my humble opinion, I believe it can be both and when we take our natural curiosity to learn and combine it with a desire to continually evolve ourselves and how we do business, we encounter a substantial increase in improvement. Our Business Development efforts will net a second derivative of improvement.
Redding Real Estate ~ Changing Industry ~ Is Your Agent Prepared–I’ve made a commitment to change and provide the best service I can conceive of. It is me that going to want to prepare for the future and see unlimited business potential and development. It should be all of us!

I actually just plain love Redding and Shasta County for that matter. We’ve always got somewhere to go and something to do that is of interest and includes beauty. Lake Redding sits on right on the Sacramento River and provides that perfect place to get near the water and take a stroll are sit and enjoy a picnic and get your fill of the water. I’ve always loved being near the water and need it now and again. This is one of our favorite places and it has many things artist love to look at photograph, sketch, paint or just groove on….dating myself here!
Lake Redding is located right off Market Street and Quartz Hill Rd.
I think I love the Train Tressle more than anything. Someday soon I’m going there with my sketch pad for a future oil painting. It’s forming in my oversized brain.
This Pavillion is available for parties and family gathering. Very pictureque.
Walk along the river and sit a spell. It doesn’t get much better than this. My dog Ginger loves this walk and sit exercise. She gets to smell all the doggie internet smells here in this spot.
Can’t help myself with this Trestle….it calls to me. Some would think it ugly….but I love it!
Picture perfect is the essense of Lake Redding and Caldwell Park.
Redding Real Estate ~ Great Living Here ~ Visit Lake Redding Park–Other spots are green and beautiful. There’s plenty of room for picnics and playing ball. Lake Redding Park is my favorite spot for walking my dog and having a picnic with my family.
